Sofian was born and raised in, Brooklyn, New York, where he grew up in a household with his parents and older sister. At the age of five, his family moved into an old burned-down brownstone and spent most of the early years there, fixing and building it back into a home. He graduated from Brooklyn Free School, a small democratic school, with a mission for social justice, in June of 2020. He is currently enrolled at Bennington College, where he is studying psychology, environmental studies, interdisciplinary study of gender, and the art of filmmaking. Sofian is very passionate about social justice and continues to work within his community to create social change. He hopes to one day work as a social worker to help people navigate their mental health and wellness. As a member of a non-profit organization called “Just Period”, he donates hygiene products and supplies to various homeless shelters, while also volunteering his time at multiple community fridges and pantries in Brooklyn.
